The 30 September 1938 Agreement at Munich That Ceded Czechoslovak Border Territories to Hitler in Exchange for His Pledge of Peace That Lasted Eleven Months

Britain, France, Italy, and Germany signed the Munich Agreement at 1:30 a.m. on 30 September 1938. Czechoslovakia was forced to cede the German-speaking Sudetenland border regions. Chamberlain returned to London claiming "peace for our time." Hitler invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia on 15 March 1939 and Poland on 1 September 1939.

The Capture and Execution of Italian Fascist Dictator Benito Mussolini Near Lake Como on 27-28 April 1945

Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini and his mistress Clara Petacci were captured by communist partisans at Dongo on the western shore of Lake Como on 27 April 1945. They were executed by partisan commander Walter Audisio at Giulino di Mezzegra at approximately 16:10 on 28 April 1945. Their bodies were transported to Milan and hung head-down from a petrol-station awning at Piazzale Loreto on 29 April 1945.
