The Russian Chemist Who Claimed He Saw the Periodic Table in a Dream in February 1869
Dmitri Mendeleev published the first version of the periodic table in March 1869. He later told biographers he had seen the arrangement in a dream after three days of fruitless waking work. The dream story is probably substantially embellished, but the table works.
