The London Necropolis Railway, Which Ran Corpse Trains From Waterloo for Nearly Ninety Years
From 1854 the London Necropolis Railway carried coffins and mourners from its private station beside Waterloo to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey — then the largest cemetery in the world — with tickets and hearse carriages segregated by class and religion. It ran until a German bomb destroyed its London terminus in 1941.
