How did Po'pay coordinate the 1680 Pueblo Revolt across two dozen communities and four language families?
Runners carried knotted cords from Taos. Each pueblo untied one knot per day; the revolt was to begin when the last knot was untied. Two captured runners forced Po'pay to advance the start. 10 August 1680 drove the Spanish out for twelve years.
